Love of Sports Led Watkins to Become Journalist, Content Creator

Jason Watkins is a well-respected sports journalist and content creator with extensive knowledge of both college and professional football. Over the years, he has established himself as one of the most trusted voices in the industry, providing insightful analysis and in-depth coverage of the sport. 

As a podcast host with almost two decades of experience covering college football in the Big 12 and SEC conferences, Watkins has established himself as a trusted voice in the sports journalism industry, offering insightful analysis and breaking news on the latest developments in college football.

Throughout his career, Watkins has worked for multiple publications, earning a reputation for his depth of knowledge and his ability to connect with audiences.

He got his start in sports journalism as a beat reporter for his hometown newspaper, covering high school sports and news for two years before becoming the Sports Editor in nearby Hobbs, NM, and later worked for publications in Midland, Texas, Albuquerque, NM, San Antonio, Charleston, SC, and Las Vegas.

Over the years, Watkins has built up an extensive network of contacts within the college football world, enabling him to provide in-depth coverage of the teams and players he follows, and eventually leading him to found the HOF Media Group.

His passion for football has also led Watkins to become involved in the high-profile "Way Past Due" Pro Football Hall of Fame campaign for Kansas City Chiefs legend Otis Taylor.

Watkins was asked by a group of Prairie View A&M Alumni to lead the long overdue push for Taylor to be enshrined into the HOF, believes that Taylor is long overdue for this honor and is working tirelessly to see Mr. Taylor receive it.

As part of the "Way Past Due" campaign, he has written extensively and produced video and web content about Taylor's achievements and the impact he had on the game of football during the AFL-NFL Merger era.

Thanks to the efforts by Watkins and the Prairie View group, most notably those of PVAMU alums Kerwin Terry and Phyllis Darden-Caldwell, and the support of other football experts and fans, the "Way Past Due" campaign has gained significant traction.

Taylor's candidacy for the Hall of Fame has been given new life and there is renewed hope that he will finally receive the recognition he deserves.
