The Sooners return established difference-makers, but Oklahoma’s pursuit of SEC and national prominence could be determined by the players earning their first starting jobs or significant roles in Brent Venables’ fifth season.

Michael Boganowski and Reggie Powers III are expected to take on major responsibilities in Venables’ defense, while Nigel Smith II, Trent Wilson, Danny Okoye, Wyatt Gilmore, Jeremiah Newcombe, Trystan Haynes, Cole Sullivan and freshman linebacker Kristan Moore battle for snaps.
