Oklahoma extended Brent Venables through 2032 and raised his annual salary to $10.5 million—a decision that has plenty of people outside Norman questioning the Sooners.
But the Brent Venables contract extension makes far more sense when you consider the direction of Oklahoma football, the value of stability in the SEC, the strength of the program Venables has assembled and the exploding price of competing for championship-caliber coaches.
