Are Jimbo Fisher, Steve Sarkisian Running Out of Time with Aggies, Longhorns?
Breaking down the futures of Texas A&M Coach Jimbo Fisher and Texas Longhorns coach Steve Sarkisian, who not only lost his sixth road game in 7 tries since taking over in Austin, but allowed himself and the entire team to "forget" to sing the Texas School Song after coughing up a 17-point lead to Oklahoma State Saturday in Stillwater.
HOF College Football Podcast host Jason Watkins starts off by documenting the clearly unraveling Texas A&M football program, however, and discusses the factors that have led to the mess centered around head coach Jimbo Fisher, who Monday suspended three players from the team following the Aggies' loss at South Carolina two days before, apparently for a drug-related incident in the locker room.
Despite boasting what many people have rated as the Number 1 recruiting class in CFB history, chemistry, culture and coaching problems starting with Jimbo, himself, have kept the Aggies mired in mediocrity.
After opening the season ranked as high as 6th in preseason polls across the country, it's fair to say that this is not the start that TAMU wanted. But taking into consideration the $85-Million-Plus buyout attached to the coach, a change in leadership may not be a feasible solution to the issue.
We'll also get into the outlook for the Oklahoma Sooners over the remainder of their first season under new head coach Brent Venables, and hear what he has to day concerning the Sooners' trip to Iowa State on Saturday.
