Why is Nick Saban pushing so hard to hire Oklahoma Offensive Coordinator Jeff Lebby away from the Sooners and first-year coach Brent Venables?
Ever heard of a preemptive strike? Well, there you go. It's as simple as that.
Having been on the wrong end of a 44-16 loss to the Clemson Tigers in the College Football Playoff Championship Game in 2019, which was fueled by a fully-functional Venables defense and a highly-talented quick-strike offense led by a strong-armed quarterback, it's not hard to recognize what Saban is attempting to do.
To be honest, it's hard to even blame the coach for trying. This is just another example of why Saban is the best college football coach to ever roam the sidelines.
He sees a throat he can step on, and makes sure to twist.
