Big 12 Power Programs Oklahoma and Texas Joining SEC Amid Massive Shift in College Football Landscape
With change happening fast among major college football programs and conferences, Nobody's Safe is ranking the new-look Southeastern Conference with new members from Big 12 Oklahoma and Texas.
Most pundits are pointing to 2023 with the recent developments in the PAC-12 Conference that saw USC and UCLA join the Big Ten conference starting in 2024, which has thrown the sport into a frenzy with schools from the Power 5 Conferences desperately trying to secure their CFB futures with a spot in a league that can keep up in the arms race for players and big payouts. What College Football will look like after realignment is yet to be seen, but it appears to be trending towards two to four power conferences, with the SEC and B1G Conferences already working on Media Rights deals that will pay member schools upwards of $100 Million per season.
Conferences like the Big 12 and PAC-12 are scrambling to fill the spots left by the exits of OU, Texas, UCLA, and USC, and will likely have to raid each other's ranks for whichever programs aren't gobbled up by the powerhouse leagues The SEC and Big Ten in order to survive.
But how will the Oklahoma Sooners and Texas Longhorns stack up in the murderer's row that is The SEC Conference, led by Nick Saban's Alabama Crimson Tide, along with Georgia, LSU, Mississippi, and Texas A&M, which had the highest-rated recruiting haul in CFB history for its 2022 recruiting class.
