*OU Football Better Off Keeping Focus on Top Defensive Line Recruiting Targets Like Stone, Nwaneri, and Nigel Smith, Especially After Smith's Quote Tweet About Joining Pierce at Ohio State*
If the Oklahoma Sooners Want to Flip Payton Pierce From Ohio State Back to OU, Brent Venables, and Co. Should Prioritize Defensive Line Recruit Nigel Smith first.
Make No Mistake, defensive linemen David Stone Jr. and Williams Nwaneri are at the top of the Sooners' wish list as well, but if the rumors are true Stone and Nwaneri are all but locked up for OU.
Smith is the guy Todd Bates and Venables need to sway, particularly if his tweet at Pierce envisioning teaming up together with the Buckeyes is any indication.
Oklahoma has depth at linebacker, and are presumably the landing spot for the top-ranked linebacker in the country Sandy Brown, also... It's along the defensive front that the Sooners are the lightest, and where national champions are won. Landing two of three would be huge for second-year head coach Venables... If Smith, Stone, and Nwaneri all choose Oklahoma, one can envision a championship in the near future for OU.
These three must be the biggest priority for the Sooners staff. Such a haul could presumably flip Pierce, also.
