That's why the Big 12 and Pac 12 are on the verge of at best irrelevance and at worst extinction. Talks between the remaining Pac 12 schools and the suddenly-aggressive Big 12 have cooled, and Utah is said to not want to switch conference affiliation. Colorado is also reportedly having second thoughts about aligning, again, with the Big 12.
So the B1G and SEC will continue their conquests of every major college football program in the country, and Fans are left to wonder what the CFB landscape will look like when the dust clears.
The Irish may have wanted to remain independent to keep control of who and where they played. But that dream went up in smoke with the USC-UCLA announcing they were moving to the B1G team last week.
The SEC is planning further expansion as well, and will likely poach Clemson, Florida State, North Carolina, and Virginia first, then likely Oklahoma State, Virginia Tech, Miami, and West Virginia, too.
