Riley himself is doing what Riley does when faced with failure, making excuses. At Big 10 Media Days, Riley even reduced ybe greatness of Nick Saban to his scheduling practices, trying to justify canceling the century-old Notre Dame series after trying to get out of USC’s season-opener against SEC contender LSU, and flat out pulling the plug on a home-and-home series with Lane Kiffin’s Ole Miss Rebels that was to behin next season.
