The 6th-ranked Oklahoma Sooners (5-0, 1-0 SEC) are gearing up for Texas, but the biggest question is at quarterback:
👉 Will John Mateer play?
Mateer had thumb surgery on his throwing hand just three weeks ago (Sept. 24), but according to sources close to ESPN’s Pete Thamel, he’s “likely to play.”
If he can’t go, Michael Hawkins Jr. will again lead the Sooners after torching Kent State 44-0 last weekend.
Meanwhile, Texas (3-2, 0-1 SEC) — preseason No. 1 — has fallen out of the rankings after losing to Florida, as protection issues for Arch Manning and a sputtering run game have Longhorn Nation on edge.
