Oklahoma lands Commitment From Top RB Recruit Tatum, the No. 1 running back in the 2024 class according to 247Sports. Tatum, a standout from Longview High in Texas, chose the Sooners over USC as his college destination.
Standing at 5-foot-10 1/2 and weighing 205 pounds, he becomes the 15th commitment for head coach Brent Venables and his team in the 2024 recruiting cycle. With Tatum's commitment, Oklahoma rises to the 16th spot in the 247Sports Composite Team Recruiting Rankings.
Additionally, Tatum will showcase his talent in both football and baseball during his time in Norman.
Upon leaving the University of Oklahoma for USC in November 2021, Lincoln Riley cited in an inability to recruit “Elite” talent to Norman as one of the main reasons…
It would appear that Riley was right, as he still can’t seem to land elite HS talent in High School recruiting -- even to the “Mecca,” of College Football, as Riley called USC that day.
Brent Venables and his OU staff, including former OU workhorse back DeMarco Murray, don’t appear to struggle with recruiting to Norman and the Sooners. Oklahoma has finished 8th and 4th in the past two cycles since Riley bolted for the West Coast, and are closing in on what would be another Top 5 Class if recruits expected to sign with Oklahoma make good on the expert predictions.
