Jason Watkins and The Coach, Phillip Roybal, along with special guest Oscar LeRoy of the Midland (Texas) Reporter-Telegram, Tim Fitzgerald of @247Sports @GoPowercat talk about rumors that Odessa High School (Texas) 4-Star Wideout Ivan Carreon, currently committed to Joey McGuire's #texastech Red Raiders, is pondering a flip to Oklahoma.
Why? Well, the coach who recruited him to Lubbock, Emmett Jones, is now the recruiting coordinator and wide receiver coach for Brent Venables' Oklahoma Sooners. Not only that, but the Red Raiders also appear to be on the verge of picking up a commitment from the No. 1 wideout in the nation -- and a Legacy Recruit at that -- in Micah Hudson, who after an official visit to Lubbock canceled an OV to Austin with the Texas Longhorns that had been planned for quite a while.
Carreon attended the Champ U BBQ held by Oklahoma on the same weekend, and rumor around Norman is that the Odessa High Bronchos' 6-foot-6 pass-catcher, and his family, came away from the weekend very impressed with what they saw in Norman.
Will Jones go 2-for-2 in recruiting Carreon? Or will McGuire keep the momentum on his side and sell Carreon on their being enough footballs to go around even if Hudson is coming to town the same season?
Also, Jason and the Coach address a level of panic that appears to have set in with Oklahoma Fans over the perceived lack of recruiting success thus far in the 2024 cycle, as July nears and just a handful of Blue Chip recruits (none of which play the position OU most needs to fill, defensive tackle) are committed to the Sooners and Coach Venables.
