The trio of creators will be joined tonight by one of the Oklahoma Sooners' most important targets of the 2024 recruiting cycle, 6-foot-5, 260-pound game-wrecking 4-star defensive lineman of Melissa (Texas) HS, Nigel Smith II, an integral part of the #OUFootball #PowerLine being projected by multiple recruiting outlets to become a Sooner after his commitment date in early September.
We will talk to Smith about his upcoming senior season at Melissa, where he sees himself in comparison with the best defensive line prospects in the country, the biggest draw attracting the Top-120 overall prospect to Brent Venables' Oklahoma Sooners -- as well as schools like Ohio State, Penn State, and Texas A&M -- and what will be the deciding factor when all is said and done to making his decision between the national powerhouse programs still in the running for his services.
Jason, Coop and JJ will also discuss the Sooners' continued success on the recruiting trail heading into Fall Camp, as Venables and Co. improved its secondary with the commitment of Sooner Legacy and 4-star safety Mykel Patterson-McDonald on Monday, and added quarterback depth for the 24 cycle with the flip of former Northwestern commit Brendan Zurbrugg today.
Also on tonight's show will be the subject dominating the college football news cycle of late: the ever-changing conference realignment surrounding the Big 12, Pac-12, and ACC conferences that appears headed for yet another seismic shift with at least one more Pac-12 team expected to jump to the Big 12 at any moment, and the drama unfolding in the ACC with league powers Florida State and Clemson expected to test the strength of the ACC's Grant of Rights and media rights deal with ESPN.
The Seminoles and Tigers are hoping to shake loose of the conference with an apparent lawsuit to challenge the validity of the GOR claiming fraud by the league and media giant in the revenue guarantees claimed to secure the deal with 13 more seasons left before the contract expires. Also reportedly at issue alleged unfulfilled promises concerning production costs and revenue projections surrounding the ACC Network, jointly owned by the league and ESPN.
