"Winning Culture" Nowhere to be Found in Pokes' Latest Disappearing Act
True to Form, Gundy, Oklahoma State Crushed by K-State and Backup QB
For all the talk about Mike Gundy and Oklahoma State's "winning culture" this week in Stillwater heading into the Kansas State game, The Cowboys' 48-0 loss in Manhattan, Kansas, Saturday was an example more befitting of the culture Gundy's program most often results in when the Pokes have played meaningful football games in the Big 12 Conference during his tenure.
Because much like their showing in Fort Worth two weeks ago, and in last season's Big 12 Title game against Baylor, and in numerous other seasons that began with such promise in Stillwater, Gundy's Cowboys folded like a cheap suit when it mattered on Saturday, and likely lost all hopes of playing for the conference title for a second-straight season.
Oklahoma State didn't bother with dramatics like it did in a 17-point come-from-behind win over Texas a week ago. No, this one was essentially over at the ebd of the first quarter, and was certainly out of reach by the time the clock read 9:00 in the second and Gundy's Listless Cowboys were already trailing K-State 28-0.
They trailed 35-0 at halftime of Gundy's latest Choke job. And showed no signs of life in the second half, either.
"I've had my butt kicked before," the coach said in the postgame press conference.
Oh, everyone who has followed your career is well aware of that fact, Mike. You could almost set your watch by it, as a matter of fact. Yes sir, that is quite the culture you've built in Stillwater, Coach Gundy.
Quite the culture, indeed.

The Sooners, who had given up 41 or more points in four-straight games, showed signs of life on the defensive side of the ball in Ames, Iowa, methodically taking out the Iowa State Cyclones and their Top-10 nationally-ranked defense in a 27-13 win for the improving Sooners.
