*Florida State and Clemson Look For Ways to Dissolve the ACC an Attempt to Retain Their Status as College Football Blue-Bloods*
Host of the HOF College Football Podcast Jason Watkins discusses college football conference realignment possibilities in the Atlantic Coast Conference with Florida State Seminoles Insider and the host of the "Double Fries No Slaw" Podcast TJ Pittinger.
The current college football media deal between ESPN and the ACC has been a hot topic of debate among sports enthusiasts. Many are skeptical that the agreement will last until 2036, while others argue that the deal, and Grant of Rights agreement with the conference that accompanies the deal, are essentially unbreakable, and penalties for doing so are so expensive, that Florida State, Clemson, Miami, and North Carolina will eventually become irrelevant.
But, Pittinger reported this week that officials at Florida State and Clemson may be gaining support from fellow member schools on a plan to dissolve the league and allow members to join other conferences, presumably football revenue-generating giants in the Big 10 or SEC conferences, or part of Brett Yormark's Big 12 Conference.
Under the ACC's current media deal, ESPN has exclusive rights to broadcast ACC football games and other events until 2036. However, factors such as changing consumer habits, the emergence of new media platforms, and the unpredictable nature of the sports industry suggest that this deal may not be sustainable in the long run.
College basketball's now-powerhouse league that hopes to remain viable and competitive with the SEC and B1G on the football field by capitalizing on it's basketball value with a separate media deal to carry conference hoops when renegotiations begin after 2030.Also joining the discussion to give his insight is Forbes Columnist Jim Williams, a 7-time Emmy Award-winning television producer, director, writer and broadcaster who has produced or directed more than 3,000 Live Events in his amazing 40-Year Career in Broadcast and Print Journalism, which includes being a Senior Producer for the the Big Ten, SEC, and Big 12 Conference Football and Basketball Games of the Week.

George Kliavkoff and his negotiating partners at ESPN, Apple, and Amazon have gone quiet as of late, raising questions about what comes next, as the commissioner attempts to score a media deal for the Pac-12 that is both competitive -- revenue-wise -- with the Big 12 Conference, and one that will also satisfy league presidents and chancellor.
