*Buffs Head Coach Deion Sanders Tells Pat McAfee that Transfers in and out of Boulder was Always His Intension to Find True Competitors*
Jason Watkins of the Hall of Fame College Football Podcast talks about the transfer portal roller coaster ride that is Colorado's Coach Prime.
Oh, Haters! What was all that talk about Deion Sanders going overboard in allowing -- more like pushing -- 41 players into the transfer portal at various parts of the Spring, with a large contingent of now-former Buffaloes leaving following the Buffs Spring Game last Saturday?
It appears safe to say that Coach Prime knew exactly what he was doing when he did it. The first-year Colorado head coach had no illusions about what it would take to flip a 1-11 record last season in Boulder into a 2023 campaign that would even come close to living up to the baked-in expectations that came via the hype surrounding the Pro Football Hall of Famer's first Power 5 head coaching job.
While CFB pundits that have been waiting to pounce were busy prematurely writing Sanders' coaching epitaph, the Coach didn't bother to even recognize the shade-tossing coming from seemingly every corner of the country.
All he did was lock up the first three players of an expected haul that will eventually upgrade the position of each of those players that took his advice from the first day he arrived in Colorado and entered their name in the NCAA Transfer Portal. AAC Freshman of the Year running back Alton McCaskill entered the portal Wednesday morning, and was crystal ball predicted to Colorado and Coach Prime by lunch time, as was Florida State Edge Rusher Derek McClendon and McCaskill's teammate and All-AAC first team offensive tackle Cam'Ron Johnson.

"I know what I want before I get to the drive-through," the coach said, referring to his transfer portal approach.
