*Under the Radar Recruit Holmes Has a Season to Remember*
_San Antonio Warren HS Wideout Dominates in Lone Season of Varsity Football_
Darian Holmes has flown under the radar as a high school football recruit in San Antonio for far too long. The season the senior receiver had in 2022 is about to raise his visibility, though, and whoever is lucky enough to land him on their roster next season will likely be the program that looks at more than Star Ratings from recruiting services like #247, #Rivals, #On3.
All the measurables are there -- 6-foot-3, 195 pounds, speed, strength, and hands that seem to just find the football.

Holmes led all of San Antonio Class 6A football -- and the entire region around the city clear to Austin, too, in receptions, receiving yards and touchdown catches.
Even receivers that have long been committed to major programs around the country aren't really close to his numbers, yet even the University of Texas at San Antonio has yet to offer a scholarship to the Warren High School senior with good grades, a fabulous work ethic, and not an ounce of entitlement dripping off of him.
When disappointments came, like being relegated to the junior varsity in 2021, he didn't complain, and instead just continued to work. He identified his weaknesses as a pass-catcher, got stronger, worked on speed and quickness, and just continued to wait for his opportunity.
When he received it, he grabbed hold of it and squeezed every ounce out of it he could, making his final year of high school, and only season of varsity football, one for the record books.

81 Receptions in 12 games, 1,275 yards, and 19 touchdowns -- all tops for the four Class 6A Districts in and around San Antonio and Austin (Districts 26, 27, 28, and 29-6A).
Along the way was a 19-reception game with a two-point conversion catch (that's 20 footballs caught on one night), one game of 13 grabs, and another of 11, plus multiple games with 2 or more TD receptions.
His second-ever varsity game only saw Holmes make four receptions, and score four touchdowns.
There was his two-TD performance in Round 1 of the playoffs, one of which came on what most people viewed as a busted play before Warren quarterback Antonio Meza got off a sidearm throw to him on the line of scrimmage and watched Holmes find a crease and go 76 yards to paydirt. There wasn't even a defender in the camera frame by the time he had rumbled 25 yards.
That score accounted for the separation the Warriors needed against Eagle Pass, and delivered the first Bi-District Championship for the school in 9 seasons, just one year after the Warriors were 2-8.
Even during Friday's loss to unbeaten Harlingen, Holmes was still uncoverable, scoring two more touchdowns on passes many receivers may not have gotten their hands on at all... Holmes made both plays look simple.
He may not have played multiple seasons on the varsity level at Warren, but Darian Holmes made his one season count, and some lucky team is about to hit the lotto and benefit from his second act.
